Legacy of the Labyrinth is a dungeon exploration game for 1 to 4 people where you will fight monsters, collect materials and use equipment and your skills to grow stronger and overcome the challenges of the Labyrinth

Adventurers are being attacked by the beasts that call this winding forest home. Something has driven them into a feral rampage and worst of all has reawakened the Primal Engines that cause the labyrinthās form to shift. Now, all life in the small town of Lumine that lies in the center of the Labyrinth, is being threatened with total destruction.
EARLY DEVELOPMENT
v 1.0 ESTABLISHING THE GAME
Early prototypes were developed with pencil and paper to quickly and effectively make changes.
Step 1: Establish all mechanics planned for the game and implement them into the prototype quickly so their viability can be tested.
v 2.0 PLAY TESTS
The next major version had all the planned mechanics implemented and a basic visual pass added for clarity.
Step 2: Playtest the game with many groups to determine next steps on balance and mechanics
v 3.0 STREAMLINING
Through playtesting it became clear that several mechanics needed to be cut or streamlined for simplicity and to improve the flow of gameplay overall
Rebalance examples:
Move effects given by items into the events to decrease mechanical bloat
Simplify APEX movement patterns to a single type to reduce confusion
Cut down the types of materials that are needed for equipment from 6 to 3
Remove multiple event types that cased extended gameplay stoppages

While continuing playtesting the games mechanics had been established to a degree that a visual direction could begin to develop

SPECIALTY: Physical Attacks
This powerful fighter uses her brute strength to overpower her opponents. Using her skills she can throw an enemy to the ground and beat them while they are down.
Paladin
CHARACTERS

This guardian protects his comrades with his powerful shield. By using your skills you can draw the enemies attention and counter their strikes.
Mage
SPECIALTY: Magic Attacks
What she lacks in physical strength she makes up for in her mastery of elemental powers. Her variety of skills make her a strong and versatile fighter.

This scholar believes in brains over brawn. by utilizing the items he creates he can heal his allies and poison his enemies. Any party would be happy to have him along.
EQUIPMENT
Equipment is used to upgrade stats, gain new skills and change the power of your existing skills.
Equipment can drastically change the way you play and adds a high level of strategy and replayability to the game
Equipment slides into slots on the character cards changing the power of your skills. This opens up a world of strategy as certain equipment may be great in one slot on a character and terrible on another. Planning around the skills you plan to use is essential.

The once peaceful beasts that call the Labyrinth home have been driven into crazed bloodlust by the ancient entity you seek. By utilizing the parts you gather from defeating them, you can craft equipment to grow stronger

Monster cards were designed with legibility and consistency in mind. Each section of the cards layout is strategically separated so players know what section to look at to find any information they are seeking.
APEX: Slayers of the Labyrinth
With power far surpassing that of other beasts the APEX is a monster to be feared above all others. Once reveled they will stalk the closest player and attempt to kill them. Slaying an APEX is tough but the rewards are worth the effort.
Once a boss lair is reveled players may choose to challenge it at any time.
Bosses: the Legacy of the Labyrinth
These biomechanical beings are the remnants of the ancient civilization that once called the Labyrinth home. Using their soul capturing technology, they seek to resurrect the ancients and eliminate the new world in order to claim their dominance once more.
Bosses serve as the greatest threat in the game. Defeating them will bring peace to the labyrinth once more and win you acclaim from all in Lumine

Utilize the Waterwalk skill to cross these spaces
EVENTS: Land on these spaces to begin 1 of the 30 unique events
Map tiles show a tiny portion of the labyrinth that you must explore. by moving to the edge of a map tile you reveal the next tile you will travel onto. map times may have obstacles, events or materials on them that can be collected.
Tiles can be placed in any orientation. This allows each play through to have a unique layout increasing replayability.
